Valentine's Day 2016

heart_breakfastritas_valentinesFor our 14th (?!) Valentine's Day we kept it simple.H special ordered a LovePop card for me. They're based in Boston, where we met. He obliged when I said I wanted to hike. I went along with a post-hike pizza + Rita's for lunch detour. In between we walked the dog and hardcore napped.Earlier that morning, when H suggested heart-shaped fried eggs, I felt like rolling my eyes. I don't know why I do this sort of thing - aren't heart-shaped eggs the easiest way to bring some whimsy to our lives?Side note: H is the purchaser of the heart-shaped food mold. He's sweet like that. These types of things do not occur to me, or worse, I brush them off as being "stupid". This is partially why I picked joy as my word this year - to help me step right up and into life's simple pleasures. So, I caught myself mid-eyeroll and said, "Sure - I'll figure it out," and I did. And didn't they come out super cute?To top off our let's eat our weight in food Valentine's Day, we went out for prime rib dinners, complete with a crab leg appetizer and a second helping of ice cream because we can.Yay for being adults who love each other.
