Piqued

carterlightWe have family in town again this weekend and my dearest friend Steph visited earlier in the week, so life is full.I decided to change the pace of the Big Magic posts - the schedule I chose is too darn fast for people. Chapter posts will go up on Thursdays, extra link posts will be on Tuesdays and Piqued will be back on Saturdays. Hope the schedule is better for you all!Does Watching Good TV Make Your A Better Person? Gosh, I hope so. Obviously, MadMen is mentioned here b/c it's the closest thing to literary fiction you'll ever see on TV.Jacqui lost her 3 year old son in an accident in 2014. In 30 Weeks With My Second she writes of both the joy of expanding her family, the grief for her son that she works through, and how theirs is a situation that isn't simple to explain in passing conversation. I am always inspired by how she writes about grief, family and celebrating the life of her son. Super brave.I am not on SnapChat but these are hilarious: If SnapChat Existed In The 90s.When Lindsey said she wanted a life of contentment the Type-A in me balked - but what I love about her description is that not contentment is a calmer form of happiness (though it can feel that way) but that she has a "sturdy sense of joy that underpins my life" and that her general feelings also include sorrow. It made me think a little about what my underpinnings consist of. Not sure I have a clear answer yet, but I'll be sure to share it here when I do.And on that note - If you stop, and nothing else gets done today, everything will be ok, mostly better. From Permission To Putter (which I did a lot of yesterday).I struggle with finding poetry that speaks to me. I'm learning the poems that deal with everyday pinpricks of experience and daily life are my jam. If that's also the case for you, I recommend all of Maya Stein's 10-line Tuesday poems. The more I dive into the Big Magic work, the more I find this from Sarah Selecky true - Your Writing Doesn't Take Time, It Makes Time.Have a great weekend! xoRead all of the Piqued posts.
