Climbing Donner Pass - Tahoe

We are nothing if not spoiled with the incredibly gorgeous locations we've climbed this year. Donner Pass, overlooking Donner Lake, outside of Truckee, CA was breathtaking.After our walk around Truckee, we ate lunch, had a few drinks and said good-bye to most of the group. TB, H and I had the place to ourselves one extra night and decided to go climbing that afternoon.It was probably the easiest and prettiest place we've climbed. There was a parking lot right next to Rainbow Bridge. The approach was just a simple walk and duck under the bridge. The routes were bolted and easily anchored. The hike down through low brush to the start of the routes was a cinch. The view was phenomenal and the climbs were fun.I only wish we'd brought the whole group here. If we ever come back, I'm scheming for a long afternoon of climbing and picnicking at the crag, and then waiting for the sun to set to see the fireworks over Donner Lake.I highly recommend this spot.
