Adventure (1 of 3)

It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement, there is life, and in change, there is power. ~Alan Cohen

I chose ADVENTURE as 2015's One Little Word. The word came to me in late autumn. I was sensing the Saturn shift from Scorpio to Sagittarius, and my own need to spring forward with new enthusiasm. When I found out I was pregnant, it seemed to take on a whole new meaning. And as I went through a miscarriage I told H, "This isn't the 'adventure' I meant.""That's because we're still in 2014. This is still flow," he said. (My word for last year - isn't he the best?)____That experience realigned something in my being - something that said, you're a writer, so write. I decided to share my story, which felt unbelievably vulnerable, and also one of the best things I've done this year.I took the writing thing seriously by launching this new version of my blog.As I recovered from the upheaval that was the start of 2015, the traveling adventures started. We went on our first hike in & camping trip in January. I took a micro-adventure through downtown LA with my sister for my birthday. Then we traveled to Austin with friends and I went up to San Fran for work and play.April was all about Italy. Fucking fabulousness.I wrapped up the travel with flights 9 and 10 with a quick turn-around weekend for my friend's bachelorette.Yup, 10 flights in 3 months. No wonder I've spent almost 1/5 of 2015 sick.We took our friends rock climbing at our gym and then outdoors. We climbed at Stoney Point and hiked in to climb Echo Cliffs a few weekends ago.And to top it all off, because I was willing to take on the adventure of driving 4 hours round trip for a concert, I MET JIM ADKINS.____So, 2015 - you've morphed a few times from what I expected, but I honestly wouldn't change a thing. These experiences are making me the woman I am meant to be....for in movement, there is life, and in change, there is power.____*The photo above is a collage I made for Ali Edwards' One Little Word class. Doesn't seem like the class is open anymore, but you can see all the inspiration at the link above.
