Homebound - Tahoe

tahoe_jumptahoe_flowerstahoe_foodtahoe_alcoholtahoe_friendsWe call that last photo our "Friends" picture, but the first one is clearly the winner.Over July 4th weekend, a bunch of us got our butts to Truckee, CA right northwest of Lake Tahoe. The house we rented was huge with every amenity you could want: tons of comfy seating, an outdoor grill, a hot-tub, a kitchen large enough for the 8 people, a loft with a pool table, and a patio area. It was dog-friendly and fit all of us perfectly. We walked around town, took a pontoon out on Donner Lake and rock climbed (posts coming), but mostly we spent the weekend at the house, just relaxing. We took long walks, cooked tons of food, played games, watched the sunset, napped, read books, played guitar and piano, crafted, talked and just spent time together as friends.Everyone contributed something:TB cooked breakfast and made butter coffee. BK gave tarot readings and brought homemade vodka and these yoga ropes we all took turns hanging upside down on. E&D taught us Settlers of Catann and made peach cobbler and corn salad. G created and hosted an entire trivia game. I brought all of my crafting supplies and TableTopics. H kept the music mixes playing and carried around a backpacker guitar. Oh, and T? She booked the pontoon & coordinated the trip, so we gave her the rest of the weekend off.It was really perfect. This was the second trip of the year for part of this group - the first being Austin. I can't tell you how awesome it is to travel with people who are easy going and care about the simple things: good food, good conversation and fun. Just spending time together, being. We threw around the idea of making this an annual tradition, and I hope we can - it's the type of trip summer memories are made of.See all my Truckee/Tahoe posts.
